City Council Repeals Opus Development Agreement
COLUMBIA - The city council voted late Monday night to repeal an ordinance that would have allowed Opus to go forward with the development of a student apartment complex in downtown Columbia. It would be located on Locust Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets. The council also voted Monday against putting the proposal on a ballot for voters to decide.
The city has said Opus can still be issued a building permit regardless of the agreement. Opus has said if the city didn't approve the development it would sue the city.
The Repeal 6214 citizens group submitted two petitions to repeal the ordinance approving a developmental agreement between Opus and the city.
