City of Columbia suspends utility disconnections for non-payment
COLUMBIA - The City of Columbia is acknowledging the financial hardships individuals and families may be facing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city announced it will suspend the disconnection of utilities for non-payment and late payment fees until further notice, according to a Friday news release from City Manager John Glascock.
"We want you to know that we will continue to provide reliable utility services so that you can focus on staying well," Glascock said in the release.
While utility workers will continue to pick up trash, respond to service calls and maintain critical systems, the city will be following CDC guidelines for protection.
