COLUMBIA - A City of Columbia official confirmed the city's website, www.GoColumbiaMo.com, was attacked again early Monday.

Information technologies assistant director Mark Neckerman said the website was down early Monday morning. As of 9 a.m. the site was back up.

It is the site's second attack in less than a week.

The city's website also experienced a similar website outage Thursday morning.

"This form of attack is designed to make the city's website unavailable by flooding the site with requests from multiple sources," Neckerman said in a statement.

The city said while this type of attack does not usually result in the loss of information or indicate a security breach, it does result in an inability to access the city's website and associated services.
