CMU Men Place Second at HAAC Championships, Women Finish Third
BALDWIN CITY, KS - The Central Methodist men's outdoor track and field team finished second after Sunday at the 2013 Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Eagles' women's team placed third.
In men's action Sunday, the Eagles' DeMarcus Jackson took the top spot in the 100 meters in a new school record time of 10.55 seconds. He took second in the 200 meters. Jordan Kukal won the discus with a toss of 50.57 meters.
Central Methodist's Bryan Lechner placed second in the 110 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles. Kyle Jones took third in the high jump.
The Eagles' 4x100 meter relay team of Jordan Coaxum, Derek Freeman, Cameron Blanton and Jackson took first in a season-best time of 41.4 seconds.
On the women's side, Central Methodist's Kate Fulton became the conference champion in the high jump for the third straight season after clearing 1.65 meters.
The Eagles' Kaitlyn Emig placed second in the 400 meter hurdles in a school-record time of 1:05.34. Shelby Garrigus took second in the triple jump. Kelly Klusmeyer was second in the discus. Emily Nealley placed second in the 5,000 meters.
The Eagles' 4x100 meter relay team of Garrigus, Jacqueline Anderson, Emig, and Alexandra Surgeon placed second.
Central Methodist participates in the Last Chance Meet on Saturday, May 11.
