CMU Men's Soccer Lands Four on All-HAAC Teams
KANSAS CITY -- The Central Methodist University men's soccer team had four players named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference 2012 All-Conference Men's Soccer Teams.
Midfielder Thyago Catharino was named to the first team. Forward Murun Altankhuyag was a second-team choice, while defender Brendon Boucaud and forward Erwin Sanchez, Jr. were voted to the third team.
Catharino ranks second in the HAAC in game winning goals per game (3), third in assists per game (0.41), fourth in shots per game (3.00), seventh in shots on goal per game (1.35) and 15th in goals per game (0.35). The Sao Paulo, Brazil, native ranks 41st in the NAIA in game winning goals (3) and 49th in assists (7).
Altankhuyag ranks fifth in the league in points per game (1.29), fifth in goals per game (0.50) and 11th in assists per game (0.29). The Mongolia native helped guide an offensive attack that ranks 25th the NAIA in goals (47), 25th in shots per Game (17.780), 32nd in assists (33), 35th in goals per game (2.610) and 42nd in assists per game (1.830).
Boucaud was a key to the Eagles' 2012 defensive unit that ranks fourth in the HAAC in fewest goals allowed per game (1.28). The St. Anns, Trinidad & Tobago, product led a team that recorded seven clean sheets during the regular season.
Sanchez, Jr. has been arguably the best offensive player in the conference during the last week, posting six goals and four assists in only four games. A native of Lisbon, Portugal, Sanchez, Jr. ranks third in the HAAC in points per game (1.44), third in game winning goals per game (0.17) and fourth in goals per game (0.56). His three game winning goals are good for 41st in the NAIA.
