CMU Named NFCA NAIA Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year
STARKVILLE, MS -- The Central Methodist softball coaching staff has been named the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association NAIA Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year, the Association announced on Monday. The staff includes head coach Pat Reardon and assistant coaches Ross Dowell, Katie Peterson and Gene Reardon.
Central Methodist (41-14, 16-2 HAAC) swept both the Heart of America regular-season and tournament championships this season to earn a trip to the national tournament. Despite going 1-2 in pool play at the event, the appearance was significant in that it was the Eagles first since 1981. This also marks second time that Reardon and his staff have earned the award, having done it previously in 2008.
Pat Reardon surpassed the 500-win plateau for his career during the season and ranks second in HAAC history. He also ranks in the top 15 in the history of the NAIA.
