FAYETTE, MO - Women's soccer forward Kayla Leeser scored two goals Wednesday night for Central Methodist University in a 3-2 Heart of America Athletic Conference victory over Avila University at Davis Field. Central Methodist (9-4, 2-2 HAAC) improves its win streak to three games, while Avila (7-7-1, 0-4 HAAC) has now lost three straight.

The Green and Black led by two goals 23 minutes into the game thanks to Leeser. Leeser scored in the sixth minute on a header off Shawn Beard's corner kick and again in the 23rd minute on a blast from 25 yards out. Lindie Adair was credited with an assist on the second goal after delivering a touch pass to Leeser, who now has a team-high nine goals this season after leading the unit in goals last year with 11.

After Alyssa D'Egidio cut the deficit in half in the 44th minute, Erin Winschel scored her third goal in two games after stealing the ball and chipping it from 20 yards out over goalkeeper Stephanie Gartner.

D'Egidio recorded her second goal of the night and 10th of the season in the 68th minute with an assist from Tracie Geile, but the visitors could get no closer. Goalkeeper Brittany Andert made five saves for Central Methodist in the match. Gartner had six saves in 90 minutes. Central Methodist outshot Avila, 15-12, and held an edge in corner kicks, 7-2.

The Green and Black hosts MidAmerica Nazarene University on Saturday at Davis Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT.
