COIN Signs Off
COIN began in 1993 as a non-profit group to provide free Internet access, then started charging a small fee in 2005, before ending those services June 30.
COIN held a public farewell reception in the Columbia Public Library on Friday to recognize people who participated in the network. At its peak, 12,000 people were part of it.
"I think it was a wonderful service," said Ted Spayde, [it] helped a lot of people."
The Daniel Boone Regional Library will hire some COIN employees.
