Cole County Man Named From Suspicious Falling
JEFFERSON CITY — Jefferson City Police and Fire personnel responded to a call from Monroe Street Tuesday, Jan. 8, of someone causing a disturbance.
A press release from the Jefferson City Police Department stated that when officers investigated the rooftop access in that area, they located James P. Schepers, 34 of Cole County, who appeared to have fallen approximately 30 feet into an inaccessible area.
Due to the subject's location, officers requested assistance from Jefferson City Fire personnel to breach a door from a business that would allow medical staff direct and immediate access to the subject.
The subject, a 34 year-old Jefferson City male, was treated and transported by Cole County Ambulance personnel to an area hospital, and was later life-flighted to Columbia in serious condition due to the nature of the fall.
Officers conducted an investigation that morning but were unable to locate any witnesses that saw or heard anything until after the fall. Jefferson City Police Detectives were called to investigate and have opened the case as a suspicious activity case due to the unknown reason for the fall.
Detectives are following up on a number of leads, but are asking anyone with any further information or knowledge of the event to contact them or to call CrimeStoppers at 659-TIPS.
At this time, it is unknown why the male subject was on the rooftop area. The investigation is still open at this time.
