Columbia Bars Doing Well Despite Tigers Tourney Loss
COLUMBIA - The NCAA basketball tournament may bring more business than usual to local bars, even though the Missouri Tigers are no longer playing.
The MU men's basketball team lost to Cincinnati in the opening game of the tournament Thursday night. The game drew large crowds to many Columbia bars, including Harpo's, Bengal's Bar & Grill, and Campus Bar & Grill.
One bar owner noted that many of those in attendance, however, may have been there to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
Some bar owners and employees said, based on what they've seen in previous years, they still expect crowds for the rest of the games in the tournament, even though MU won't be playing.
