Columbia College athletes receive AMC honors
COLUMBIA - The American Midwest Conference named two Columbia College students as athletes of the week on Monday.
Meaghan Rice was named the AMC's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week after finishing in the top-11 in two events at the Central Methodist University Invite.
Over the weekend, Rice finished second in shotput with a 10.97 meter toss and took 11th in the javelin throw, tossing it a distance of 25.5 meters. On the track she ranked second in the 100-meter hurdles and finished 13th in the 800 meter run.
Additionally, the Cougar's Jordan Wright was honored as the AMC's Baseball Player of the Week, following a successful weekend in Illinois. He recorded a .769 batting average versus the Fighting Illini, leading the Cougars to a 2-1 record. Wright finished the week with an RBI, 10 hits, two scored runs and a stolen base.
The AMC weekly honor was a first for both Columbia College Cougars.
