Columbia College Basketball defeats Westminster College
COLUMBIA- The Columbia College men's basketball team hosted Westminster College for its third game of the season. The Cougars led only by four at half, but were able to pick up some momentum in the second half to win by eleven, 71-82.
Leading Columbia was junior forward Thiabault Benabid, who shot 58.3% from the floor for 17 points and controlled the paint with 13 rebounds. Also with 17 points was junior forward Adam Mennemeyer, who shot 55% from the floor, and knocked down three shots from behind the arc. Junior guard Justin Shaw chipped in with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Altogether, the Cougars shot 53.8% to keep their offense moving.
Posing a threat to the Cougar defense was Westminster's junior guard Kobe Wands, who had 18 points. Columbia College made it tough for the Blue Jays to work on offense, as they shot 34.4% from the floor as a team.
After a long break, The Cougars will tip-off conference play on Saturday, November 17 as they host St. Louis College of Pharmacy at 3 PM.
