Columbia College doubleheader ends in a split
COLUMBIA - American Midwest Conference doubleheader ends in a split for Columbia College Cougars and the Lyon College Scots.
The Cougars produced a first game win, 6-5, but the Scots came back with an 11-7 win for the second game.
The first game favored the Scots with a 1-0 lead in the first inning. After a home run from Cougars Tim Fox in the second, the Scots answered with a 2-run inning taking a 3-1 lead in the third.
Cougars and Scots rallied to keep the scores even. But it was Cougars Ethan Howser that captured the lead with a 3-run walk-off home run.
The Cougars managed to sweep the first five innings of the second game with a 6-0 lead. But the Scots didn't give up.
The eighth inning brought in five runs and the ninth brought in three for the Scots, giving them the 11-7 victory.
The Cougars host the Scots at noon tomorrow, March 19th, for the final game of the series.
