Columbia College softball wins game one of opening round
COLUMBIA - The Columbia College softball team won its first game of the NAIA National Championship Opening Round bracket play on Monday. The Cougars are host to Valley City State (N.D.), Brenau (Ga.) University and Madonna (Mich.) in the Columbia bracket.
The second seed Cougars faced the third seed Brenau Golden Tigers, shutting them out 4-0. Cougars players, Avgustina Arbova and Molly Carter, homered in the game. Karolina Arbova and Olivia Denslow also contributed to the offensive performance.
Lexi Dickerson started on the mound for the Cougars, going seven innings and striking out five.
Up next, the Cougars will continue their opening round play on Tuesday when they take on the number one seed Valley City State. First pitch is set for 10 a.m.
