COLUMBIA - The Cougar Soccer team continued the American Midwest Conference (AMC) play Wednesday night posting a 3-0 win over the Owls from William Woods (Mo.) University. With the victory the Cougars move to 10-2-1 on the season and 3-1-0 in conference play. William Woods falls to 7-6-0 overall and 3-2-0 versus league foes.

Due to inclement weather, the Cougars and Owls played the first 41 minutes of the competition and then took a 30 minute break before playing the remaining four minutes of the first half and the complete second half.

Liam Cain netted the game winning goal in the 34th minute. After the weather delay the Cougars came back to secure the win with two more goals in the second half. Jovan Ilic scored in the 66th minute off an assist from Nikola Velickovic and Dylan Barduzzi found the back of the net in the 68th minute off assists from Marko Paunovic and Dan Rapp.

The Cougars finished with 17 shots, seven of which were on goal. William Woods managed 11 shots and just two on goal. Matt McKenna posted his 10th win and eighth complete game shutout of the season in goal for the Cougars.

The Cougars jumped up three spots in the NAIA Top 25 poll this week, moving from No. 22 to No. 19. Columbia garnered 250 points in the poll. Columbia's lone conference loss came against Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University who jumped from No. 16 to No. 14 this week. Hastings (Neb.) University continues to top the poll with a 12-0 record, followed by Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) the University of Rio Grande (Ohio), the University of Mobile (Ala.) and Baker (Kan.) University.

Columbia returns to the field on Friday when they take on AMC foe Williams Baptist College.
