Columbia Hosts Discrimination in Housing Event
COLUMBIA - Local and federal agencies are teaming up for a fair housing event. The event takes place Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Columbia City Hall.
Participants include the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Missouri Commission on Human Rights, Missouri Association for Social Welfare, Columbia Housing Authority, Columbia Apartment Association and the City of Columbia Division of Human Services, Human Rights Commission and Community Development Department.
Representatives from the Human Rights Commission, Office of Fair housing and Equal Opportunity and the Mid-Missouri Legal Service will speak at Monday's event which will focus on discrimination in housing.
The event is free and open to the public and will wrap up with a question and answer session. The goal of the event is to educate the public on anti-discrimination laws in Missouri and the City of Columbia as they relate to housing.
