Columbia man arrested after assaulting man with pipe
COLUMBIA - Columbia officers arrested a man early Tuesday morning after he allegedly struck another man with a pipe.
Authorities responded to a physical disturbance call involving Larry Y. Williams at the 2600 block of Quail Drive about 10:44 p.m. on Monday night.
According to Latisha Stroer, public information officer for the Columbia police department, Williams threw rocks at the victim before he grabbed a three foot long aluminum pipe and hit him in the forearm and both knees.
The victim, 48, transported himself to a local hospital following the incident.
At 2:38 a.m. on Tuesday, police detained the suspect.
Police say Williams is currently being held on armed criminal action and second degree assault charges with a total bond of $9,000.
