Columbia man arrested after deputy finds 2 pounds of marijuana in car
BOONE COUNTY - A Columbia man was in jail Tuesday after sheriff's deputies found marijuana in his car.
Sgt. Kenneth Boyce said a Boone County sheriff's deputy arrested 25-year-old Ryan Matthews Monday evening after a traffic stop.
Boyce said the deputy was near Broadway and Keene Street when a vehicle mounted license plate reader notified her that there was an individual with an active arrest warrant in the area.
She pulled the Matthews over and learned he had active arrest warrants, Boyce said. The deputy found two pounds of marijuana in Matthews' car while she was searching it.
Matthews faces charges for distribution of a controlled substance, failure to appear warrant for unlawful possession of narcotics and failure to appear warrant for no insurance.
