Columbia man arrested in connection to internet sex solicitation
COLUMBIA - Multiple law enforcement agencies arrested a Columbia man Friday after evidence surfaced of him soliciting sex from children online.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force worked alongside the FBI and the Columbia Police Department to arrest 25 year old, Marquez Javaughn Williams.
This is William's third violation of sex offender registration.
The investigation began in June of 2016 when a member of the Cyber Crimes Task Force posed as a child younger than 15 years old online and contacted Williams. During the online communication Williams sent a photo of his genitals.
On Friday law enforcement received a court ordered search warrant for William's home at 1612 N Providence Road in Columbia.
Williams is now in custody and digital evidence has been collected. He was arrested on suspicion of sexual misconduct involving a child.
