Columbia man sentenced to 110 years for kidnapping, sexual assault
COLUMBIA — A judge sentenced a Columbia man Monday to more than 100 years in prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman.
Scott Peoples was convicted earlier of first-degree domestic assault, kidnapping and first-degree sodomy in the March 2014 attack.
Prosecutors said Peoples kidnapped the woman, took her to a vacant house where he assaulted her before a four-hour standoff with authorities that ended in Peoples' arrest.
Boone County circuit Judge Kevin Crane on Monday sentenced Peoples as a persistent offender to 30 years for assault, 30 years for kidnapping and 50 years for sodomy. The judge ordered all counts to be served consecutively.
Boone County prosecutors had been seeking three consecutive life sentences. The public defender sought 10 years on each count.
