COLUMBIA – Columbia resident Elias Lucas is in the Boone County Jail Friday after his arrest Thursday at approximately 9 p.m. after a traffic stop in the area of Paris Road and College Avenue.

A Boone County Sheriff’s Department deputy stopped Lucas’ vehicle when she was alerted by a vehicle-mounted license plate reader of an individual with an active arrest warrant traveling in a vehicle on Paris Road. The deputy initiated the traffic stop with the suspect vehicle on Worley Street and McBaine Avenue.

The deputy made contact with Lucas and learned he had an active arrest warrant. Numerous illegal narcotics and two firearms were found during a search of his vehicle.

Lucas was taken into custody on the charges of distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, possession of ephedrine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and third degree domestic assault.
