Columbia Parks and Rec green lights proposed neighborhood
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Parks and Recreation Commission gave its approval for a proposed residential development at its meeting Thursday.
The commission unanimously agreed the Cobblestone Cottages would have no adverse effects on Cascades Park.
Parks Services Manager Gabe Huffington said the proposed development follows storm water codes and doesn't interfere with any other park rules.
If anything, Huffington said the development would allow more people to utilize the park.
"This one is a positive for us because we attract more neighborhood individuals and citizens around the park, and so we'll be able to give access to some people right across the street," Huffington said.
The development would be located in the southeast corner of Columbia, near the intersection of Route K and Old Plank Road.
Columbia Planning and Zoning will handle the rest of the process with the developer.
