Columbia police arrest 3 men, recover drugs and guns
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department announced Friday the arrest of a wanted subject and two other men.
Police went to the 1600 block of Parkside Drive Thursday night looking for Jordan Smith, 22, who had an outstanding felony warrant. Police found Smith sitting on a couch inside of the house. Officers said they could see one other person in the house and a strong odor of marijuana was coming from an open window.
Police took Smith into custody for a felony probation warrant, but as an officer was escorting him to the patrol car Smith started running. Officers were able to catch Smith.
Denico Crawley, 28, and Justin Myers, 22, then came out of the house and were both detained while the police got a search warrant for the home.
Once the police were able to enter the residence they found three hidden loaded handguns and two rifles along with two more loaded handguns in bedrooms. Two of the handguns were reported stolen. Police also found more than 19 grams of crack cocaine and about two grams of powder cocaine.
Smith was arrested for receiving stolen property felony, resisting or interfering with an arrest, probation and parole felony warrant, and distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce controlled substance.
Crawley and Myers were both arrested for unlawful possession of firearms, receiving stolen property felony, and distribution/delivery/manufacture/produce controlled substance.
While owning a firearm in itself is not illegal in Missouri, it is illegal for convicted felons to have a firearm in their possession.
