Columbia Police Treating Teen Death as Homicide

COLUMBIA - Columbia police are investigating the death of a 16-year-old girl. Police tell KOMU 8 News a 16-year-old girl was found dead Thursday morning at Providence Inn and Suites Motel at the corner of Providence Road and Vandiver Drive.

Police said an unidentified man called 911 telling operators he found the girl in his room and then hung up.

The girl was reported to be a runaway and police have not released her identity. Her family has been notified.

Columbia Police do not yet know the cause of death.
