However, the Edwards report cited low home ownership and high debt as factors in Columbians' low savings rate.
"The bottom line is, people need to start saving money, period," added Stansberry. "If you can't pay for it, don't buy it."
Christensen admitted, "I would have just forced myself to put away money on a routine basis. Everytime I got a raise, put that money away."
Jefferson City ranked 3rd out of 12 communities statewide and 199th out of 500 cities nationwide.
