Columbia Receives Third Certified Site
COLUMBIA - The Department of Economic Development announced Thursday that Discovery Ridge, an MU research park is now designated a "certified site."
A certified site label indicates that the area has met a list of requirements to be considered "ready for development." Requirements include road and utility access, environmental standards, and geotechnology standards.
Missouri launched the certification program a year and a half ago, and has given 10 sites certification. Three of the 10 sites are in Columbia, making Columbia the only city in Missouri with more than one site. MU researchers said future site tenants could bring in $3.5 billion to the region's economy, and support up to 90,000 jobs.
The site is already home to ABC Labs, and RADIL, MU's research animal diagnostic laboratory. Officials recently announced a 80,000 square foot private research facility that will move on the site.
