Columbia Resident in Running for Pepsi Refresh Contest
COLUMBIA-- The Pepsi Refresh project is giving away millions in grants for ideas that will "refresh" the world.
Hope McPheeter's is a Columbia resident who entered the project competition with a campaign called "Ella's Hope."
Her goal is to win a $25,000 grant to fund a non-profit organization that will research and fight against autism in children.
Ella, Hope's Daughter, was diagnosed when she was around age three.
McPheeter's said, "She's five now and so we've been with the program at the MU Thompson center for a few years now and we've seen huge strides and we've learned that 90% of kids who get early intervention with the disease show big improvement."
There are just eight days left in the contest and in order to win, Ella's Hope must make it in the top ten.
