Columbia's First Beer Production Brewery To Start Selling
COLUMBIA - Rock Bridge Brewing Company is Columbia's first beer production company, and it's already causing a buzz. There is so much demand for the beer that they had to cut off the supply at 12 buyers.
The demand for Rock Bridge's beer comes before the community has even had a taste. David Brouder, the company's founder and co-owner says the company's success is a surprise. It began in Brouder's home with a home beer-brewing set, and two years later he now rents a facility that houses six fermenters and 900 gallons of beer.
Brouder says he believes the success is all about timing.
"Maybe we just hit that window just right with Columbia," he said. "That awareness [of local beer] is really just increasing more and more every year. But, it's definitely our time."
Grouder says he is planning on expanding the company to meet the growing demand.
The first tasting of the community will be at a Chamber Commerce Ribbon cutting at Shakespeare's Pizza on Wednesday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Shakespear's pizza will be the first to dristibute the beer on tap at the restaraunt.
