Columbia School District Scores Up
COLUMBIA--Missouri schools got their report cards today.
This particular grade came in the form of preliminary versions of the schools' annual performance reports for this year.
Both Columbia and Jefferson City met 13 of 14 performance standards.
These 14 standards include ACT and MAP test scores, but they also look at attendance, graduation rates and other academic indicators.
This is the first time in ten years that the department released preliminary performance results before December.
Education officials are hoping giving schools an earlier look at these results will help teachers and parents work on problem areas.
Also today, Missouri student S.A.T. test scores came out.
Missouri students did better than the national average.
They got an average math score of 595, while the national average was 516.
