Columbia Schools Bursting at the Seams
A lot of the problems that Benton has been experiencing in the past can be related to the old infrastructure of the building, which was built back in the early 1920's. Columbia Board of Education officials said they understand the problems Benton is having, and they hope to do something about it.
"We know that the school infrastructure is a limiting factor in school achievement in that our kids are constrained in the learning process because the building is inadequate," Columbia Board of Education Vice President Donald Ludwig said.
The school board is expected to review the consultants' findings at its meeting Monday. Overcrowding was the number one issue identified by the consulting groups this summer.
