Columbia Seeks Public Input Tonight on Gans Creek Project
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department will host a public input meeting regarding the Gans Creek Recreation Area portion of Phase 1 of the city's South Regional Park Planning project.
Residents can ask questions and voice concerns about the project that proposes adding athletic fields, dog parks, and trails among other amentities to the Gans Creek Area.
"We've already got an approved master plan for this project," Senior Parks Planner Toney Lowery said. "We want to let people know how the project is progressing and get their final feedback."
The Columbia City Council approved the project in May 2010, allocationg a $1.75 million budget to develop both the Gans Creek Recreation Area as well as A. Perry Phillips Park. The project funds will be allocated over the course of the 2013, 2014, and 2015 fiscal years.
"The property has always been open for people to use," Lowery said. "But this is really the first time that people can get out and see the property."
Tonight's meeting will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the ARC.
