COLUMBIA - The Columbia Public Works department and the Airport Advisory Board announced Monday the name of the new Columbia Regional Airport manager. Andrew Schneider will take the position that became vacant when Cathy Frerking retired in August. Schneider is currently an airport manager in North Dakota.

Public Works Director John Glascock says Schneider's work in North Dakota makes him qualified because the two airports are so similar.

"It's a town of about 20,000 people, I believe. It's a regional airport, much like ours.  It's 100 miles from Bismark and Fargo, so it's right in the middle, kinda like we are with Kansas City and St. Louis so it's very comparative to ours," Glascock said.

Schneider will take the position November 8th.
