Columbia Thanksgiving Tradition Renamed in Crayton's Memory
COLUMBIA - Tyrone Crayton, son of former Columbia city councilwoman Almeta Crayton, said Tuesday he will take charge this year to continue a Columbia Thanksgiving tradition in his mother's memory.
Each Thanksgiving Day, Almeta Crayton held her annual "Everybody Eats" event, which fed hungry Columbians who did not have the means to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
Tyrone Crayton said Monday the event will be re-named this year to "Almeta Crayton's Everybody Eats."
Crayton said he will chair the event this year. Crayton said he will announce the contact person for volunteering and donations in a few days.
The event will be held on the Stephens College campus this year.
