COLUMBIA – St. Luke United Methodist Church opened its doors to those in need this Christmas.

For the fifth year, volunteers at the church served Christmas dinner and provided warm clothing to those who attended.

Dinner included meat, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and dessert.

St. Luke’s partnered with other churches and volunteers in the community for the event. Pastor Curtis Olsen from Community United Methodist Church and his family spent their afternoon helping out.

“I think it’s a great way to let people that are in our community know that they’re loved and that they can get a free meal and also get some clothing on this Christmas day,” said Olsen.

As of 2 p.m., Olsen estimated they had served more than one hundred people. Guests ate, picked up clothing and even sang Christmas carols.

“It’s been a great turnout and a great opportunity to serve,” said Olsen.
