Comprehensive Plan Task Force Approves Public Forum Plan
COLUMBIA - Columbia's Comprehensive Plan Task Force voted to have Planning & Development handle a planned public forum Wednesday night.
The forum, scheduled for April 19th, would allow residents to discuss the city's long term growth and development plan. Task force members said they want to have a website available before then to allow residents to view and comment on the plan. They said they want to use the forum to let residents discuss both the process and how they want to be involved in the plan's revisions.
Former Third Ward councilman Karl Skala said outreach is crucial to the plan. He said he was confident that the task force would be "overwhelmed" by the amount of feedback the plan would get.
The group plans to hold at least four neighborhood workshops throughout the summer to let residents provide input on the development plan. Committee members said they would revise the plan based on residents' feedback.
