Controversy Still Hot With Boone County Fire Protection District
A public meeting Thursday night brought different problems to the surface. Captain Dennis Aholt likes the changes in the fire department, but he's upset with what board member John Gordon's been doing.
"In my opinion, for a board member to publicly be seen with people that this board recently dismissed and people that in my opinion have been negatively engaged in bashing this department. That's inappropriate," says Aholt.
He prepared a speech for the public meeting tonight to express his disagreement with Gordon.
"How much longer will we have to endure these poorly researched articles before we find out the full extent of the connections between board member Gordon, Rob Brown, Bruce Piringer, Jerry Jenkins, Deb Dylan and Tony Messenger?"
But Gordon had no comment for Aholt.
"I won't answer any question that he posed to me because I won't do that. I don't expect that he wants an answer," said senior board member John Gordon.
Fire Chief Paulsell made a statement about the accusations against him:
"There is no evidence found of mismanagement or wrong doing, for simply doing what is necessary to run this world class organization."
And when the meeting opened up to public discussion no one disagreed. Gordon said he may talk privately with Aholt and see if there is any reason to comment.
