Coroner: Could be Days Before Remains Identified
CRANE, Mo. (AP) - The Taney County Coroner says it could be several days before human remains found near Forsyth last week are identified.
Investigators believe the remains are those of 34-year-old Russell Porter and 46-year-old Rebecca Porter, a Willard couple who have not been seen since April.
Coroner Kevin Tweedy said a physical autopsy conducted Monday could not positively identify the remains. DNA testing was conducted on the male on Tuesday and dental record comparisons began on the female.
He told The Springfield News-Leader that X-rays have been taken of the remains, but he declined to comment on whether there were signs of trauma.
The Porters disappeared April 17 from their home near Willard in Greene County. They left keys and cellphones behind, and their home smelled strongly of bleach.
