Cougar Men Win Fifth Straight

BELLEVILLE, IL -- The seventh-ranked Cougar men's soccer team defeated Lindenwood University-Belleville by the score of 6-0 on Friday afternoon. With the win, Columbia stays undefeated on the year at 13-0-3 with two games remaining on the regular season schedule.

Senior Dan Rapp notched his first goal of the season to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the first half. Jake Rocco assisted on the play. Marko Paunovic and Rafael Ramos also scored in the first period to give Columbia a three goal advantage at intermission.

Ramos would add another goal in the second half, along with Jovan Ilic and Antonio Ayres, to lead the Cougars to the 6-0 shutout victory. Ayres, Andres Acosta, and Majd Haidar each contributed an assist in the winning effort.

Matt McKenna and Brady Wulff combined for the shutout in goal for Columbia. The Cougars outshout the Lynx 30-4 for the game.

Columbia returns to action on Tuesday, October 23rd when they host Baker University as part of Senior Day in their final home game of the season. Andres Acosta, Dan Rapp, Nikola Velickovic, and Tom Vincenc will be honored prior to game time. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Soccer Stadium.
