Cougar Softball Finishes No. 22 In 2011 Final Poll
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Cougar Softball team dropped seven spots in the final NAIA Top 25 Poll of the season, moving from No. 15 last week to No. 22 this week. The Cougars closed out their season last week in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) postseason tournament after being defeated in the semifinal round. Columbia wraps up 2011 with a 29-16 record.
California Baptist University remained in the top spot for 24th-consecutive week. The Lancers are 59-3 on the season. Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University moved into the No. 2 spot after being ranked fifth last week. William Carey (Miss.) University remained in the three spot with a 50-6 record. California State University-San Marcos dropped to No. 4 this week and Central Baptist (Ark.) College rounds out the top five.
Columbia AMC foe Williams Baptist (Ark.) College remained at No. 20 and William Woods (Mo.) University, winner of the AMC tournament, sits just outside the poll at No. 29. The Owls received the automatic bid to the National Championships occurring May 19-25 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
