Cougar Volleyball Goes 2-0 on the Road

SALINA, KS. - The Columbia College volleyball team defeated Bethel (KS) College and Kansas Wesleyan University today in day one of the Kansas Wesleyan University Invitational. The victories improve the Cougars to 13-1 on the season.

Columbia swept Bethel 25-22, 25-16 and 25-13 with Kahoriz Feliz leading the charge with 11 kills. Carol Berger was close behind with nine kills and Nohely Perez and Trinity Ojo just kicked in eight apiece. Paula Ferreira had 38 assists while Elena Berroteran had a match high 10 digs.

The Cougars struggled out the of gate against the host squad, dropping the first set 23-25 but coming back to win the next three 25-20, 25-16 and 25-18. Feliz again led the attack, this time with 16 kills. Kelly Corkum and Brooke Simpson each had 11 kills and Carol Berger also finished in double figure kills with 10. Ferreira dished out a match high 57 assists and also had 12 digs. Berroteran put down three aces and 27 digs and Sarah Schwentker had 10 digs.

The Cougars continue action in the Kansas Wesleyan University Invitational tomorrow when they face Friends University at 1 p.m. and McPherson College at 5 p.m.
