Cougars Back on Track with Win Against Vikings

MARSHALL, MO - The Columbia Cougar men's basketball team posted a commanding victory Tuesday night over Missouri Valley College, defeating the Vikings 73-50 in Marshall, Missouri. The Cougars improve to 4-2 with the win.

Columbia put up the first points of the ball game and never looked back. The Cougars led 41-22 at the half and quickly pushed their lead to as many as 23 in the opening minutes of the second half. The Vikings were able to cut the deficit to 16 but that was as close as they would get as the Cougars walked away with the 23-point win.

Columbia outrebounded the host squad 38-29.

Devin Griffin led the charge for Columbia with 14 points. Hal Payne had 13 points on six-for-seven shooting from the field. Taylor Evans chipped in 12 points and Brock Walker had 10. Jordan Dressler pulled down eight rebounds for Columbia.

The Cougars host the Quality Inn Thanksgiving Classic this weekend in the Arena of Southwell Complex. Hannibal-LaGrange University will take on Kansas Wesleyan University on Friday, November 25th at 6:00 P.M. Columbia will face Central Bible College at 8:00 P.M. On Saturday, November 26th Hannibal opens up against Central Bible at 1:00 P.M. and the Cougars close out the classic against Kansas Wesleyan at 3:00 P.M.
