Council Approves Loop Trolley Project
UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. - Construction is about to begin on the Loop Trolley project in University City.
KMOX Radio reports that the city council in the St. Louis County town voted unanimously Monday to give a conditional use permit to the Loop Trolley Co.
Councilman Steven Kraft initially had concerns about the project but voted for it because no city dollars are being spent.
Mayor Shelley Welsch believes the trolley will spur economic growth, especially if a high-speed Internet cable is embedded in the trolley trench.
The council also voted on trolley hours. It will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
