Court Holds Preliminary Hearing for Man Accused of VA Hospital Murder

BOONE COUNTY - The Boone County Courthouse will hold a preliminary hearing on the man accused of killing a fellow patient at Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital.
The hearing will take place Monday at 2:30 p.m. The accused Sedalia man, 33-year old Rudy Perez Jr., pleaded not guilty a month ago. He plans to cite mental illness as his main defense.
Perez's attorney said his client is schizophrenic and had not taken his medication at the time of the attack.
