Creating Incentives for School Cooperation
The school district agrees, so it's created an incentive program to reward valued employees. The incentive program rewards more than just the bus drivers. The goal is for everyone from custodians to teachers to cooks to receive a benefit for the school district's success.
"We felt like if we could put something out there that everybody could buy into, and put together a program that united people rather than divided people, we might be able to accomplish something. Something really significant and something really great in the school district," boasted C.J. Huff, Eldon R-1 Superintendent.
Here's how the incentive program works: the district sets aside a pot of money. Once the school gets its annual performance review, money is split equally among bus drivers, teachers, cooks and other employees. The more standards the district meets, the more money the employees get.
"We could all use a few extra dollars, and I don't know anybody who can't," said Abbott.
