Prior threats prompted the extra security, although the sheriffs department says the concern didn't come from a specific threat.
"We haven't done this before at least not in my ten years on the team. This is the first prisoner transport to court we have done and again that's just to make sure. I'd rather have them and not need them then need these guys and not have them," said Lance Robbins, the SWAT team commander.
The deputies in SWAT gear caused some initial alarm, but the Boone County sheriffs department said they wanted to keep it low key and did not want to scare anybody.
