Daniel Named Big 12 Offensive Player Of The Week
In 2002, Smith took home the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award in his first start against Illinois.
In a 47-7 victory over Division 1-AA Murray State, Daniel not only earned Player of the Week status, but broke the school record with five touchdown passes.
"It's a great award for me and it's a great award for the team. I couldn't have done it without the receivers catching all five of the touchdowns and catching all the yards," Daniel said. "That's a one-two punch. The offensive line did a really good job blocking. I think it was a great effort all around."
The 2004 EA Sports National High School Player of the Year spread the wealth Saturday. Daniel connected with junior wide receiver Will Franklin for two scores and hit three different receivers for touchdowns to finish 23-32 passing for 320 yards.
The Tigers host Mississippi this Saturday at Faurot Field.
