Day 1: Hotels Under Strain
But eventually the hotels filled up, leaving some people looking for a place to stay. Hotels around the city say they've done their best accomodating new guests looking for rooms.
But the real challenge has been taking care of all those existing guests with nothing left to do, but wait. Guests like the Reverend Tracy Jackson. When organizing his church conference, he thought the weather would be on his side.
"Many of my fellow brothers and sisters got caught up in the snow. One of our preachers got stuck all night out in the snow and the ice," explained Rev. Tracy Jackson, Kansas City.
And just like everyone else who's stranded, he only has one thing on his mind.
"I'm gonna leave tomorrow if the weather holds up and let me get out of here," said Jackson.
The hotel managers agreed their second biggest challenge this morning was getting employees into work safely.
