Day 1: Staying Open for Business
Subway served more than 80 customers between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. And, despite cold temperatures, some people were even craving ice cream.
"I was kinda surprised...but I walked by it and I knew I needed ice cream," said Persephone Dakopolos, downtown patron.
Then, after the lunch rush, some needed relief.
"Finally, Panera opened and gave me a little break," exclaimed Warford.
For some restaurants, like Campus Bar and Grill, the deep snow was just too much to open their doors for business on Friday. Other restaurants, like Quinton's, got a late start, but will be open for business Friday night. Employees at the open restaurants say they think it's good for business.
"For the ones that are open, I think it's affecting them in a good way. I drove by Booches and it was packed!" said Layla Linehan, Quinton's waitress.
Restaraunts that usually deliver, like Dominos, Gumby's and Jimmy John's, were not doing home delivery today.
