Daycares Beat the Heat
Last week's high temperature in Columbia peaked at 103 degrees, before this week's slightly lower temps let kids play outdoors again. They usually go out a couple of times each day, but now children can go out only in the mornings.
"We always make sure we have water jugs outside so the kids can get plenty of water while they're out there," said Leslie Tomlinson, director of Hand-in-Hand Daycare.
However, the summer heat has often forced them back indoors, where their teachers have organized circuses, talent shows and scavenger hunts.
If your children are in daycare this summer, make sure their center has plenty of water and sunscreen available when they play outdoors.
