Death penalty sought in Warren County killings
WARRENTON (AP) - An eastern Missouri man accused of killing two women and a boy in Warren County earlier this year could get the death penalty if convicted.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Warren County prosecutor Jennifer Bartlett announced on Tuesday that she will seek the death penalty against 23-year-old Shawn M. Kavanagh of the Montgomery County town of Bellflower.
Kavanagh faces three counts of first-degree murder and several other felonies in the late February stabbing deaths of 29-year-old Lexy Vandiver, her 7-year-old son Mason and 22-year-old Tara Lynn Fifer, who was visiting the Vandiver family when she was killed.
Police say Kavanagh was looking for his wife, with whom he was separated. Jessica Kavanagh was seriously injured in the attack.
